On 4th May I had another opportunity to shoot with Pup Up Cafe at their next event in Plymouth. I had been asked by them after the Exeter event whether I would come along to the Plymouth event and shoot for them. Of course I said yes.
I had been asked to bring some different equipment with me this time as the venue was in a nightclub so the lighting was minimal. I took with me some studio lighting and a flashlight to see which would be more effective. I didn’t realise how little lighting there would be in the venue in the daytime I thought maybe some more lighting would be on during the day so the studio lighting didn’t really light up the room and there was only one plug so I would have been able to only use one anyway. I tried the flashlight out and the flashlight worked really well so I decided to pack the lights away and just use the on-camera flash.
The day was a lot more chilled than the last event as the sessions were 2 hours long instead of an hour so there was less sessions that I had to photograph and the venue was bigger so more dogs were able to come in during each session. Because everyone was there for longer there was more of an opportunity to get better pictures of everyone with their dogs.
After the event I looked back at all the images I had taken and it looked like they weren’t going to need as much editing as the others because I had used flash. I again edited session by session but the organisers were going to wait for me to finish editing before they posted them anywhere. This time my editing didn’t take me as long and they recieved the images about three days after the event. As the sessions were a little longer during the end of the session I felt as if I had all the images I needed from the session so I ended up with less edited images which I felt would happen anyway but I’m happy with the images that have come out.
Once they had recieved all the images they posted them all in one bulk album on Facebook but this time they didn’t credit my name on the album but I don’t know whether to ask them or not. This job was paid which I’m really happy about because they obviously liked my work before to ask me to photograph for them again and for them to pay me. Once the event was over, one of the main organisers came over to me and asked whether I would be interested in shooting at their Cardiff event in June for them which of course I would be more than happy to do for them.
