After being briefed on PDP we had Alex from Graphic Design came and spoke to us about website building. Good job because I didn't have a clue about setting up a website before this morning!
He spoke through Wordpress which I have used for the past 3 years but I haven't found it makes a good website for what I would like so I wanted to try out something new if I could. Alex also went through Behance but not in as much detail as I had hoped but I didn't understand how it worked from what he went through.
Since the talk I have obviously started my website elsewhere, on Wix to be precise. I have used Wix before but about 4 years when it was no where near as good as this. My previous experience with Wix was that it was good when it was working but most of the time it kept crashing and just wasn't working as fast as I needed it to in order to do all of my work, which is why I was a little nervous about using it again but as soon as I started I really liked it as they've changed how they lay things out and it's all really modern and nice which is why I've decided to stick to this. When I opened the designer up it was all quite overwhelming but my friend has used Six for the past couple of years so she has helped me a little set it up and to help me get my head around where all of the different buttons are but I think I'm getting on really well.
I wanted to go for a professional looking website where visitors can see my portfolio and then separately click onto my blog if needs be because before I've just had a blog and have never worked out how to create a website. There's a couple of nice finishing touches on my website at the moment. The first little element I like is when you first get taken to my page you see one image that I felt was a nice image to put on the front and then you press the 'Enter' button to actually enter my website. I then like how my portfolio is all in cubes. I'm hoping to be able to add a couple more finishing touches.
There's still a lot I need to learn about how to use Wix but I'm slowly getting there, I also need to add a lot more to my website in order for it to look professional but I hope I'm slowly getting there.
