Book Binding Workshop

As I have to make a book at the end of my project it was a good idea that we had a book binding workshop, it was really simple and easy.

What I needed:

Coloured paper

Card

Needle

Thread

Bradawl

Pencil

Curved hole punch

Once I had made one notebook I used that to make my notes of how to make the books.

To make a Section Stitch book:

Get paper and card and fold all the pages in half. Get needle and thread. Use the bradawl which is used to create the holes for the needle and thread to go for. Start in the middle, stitch either left or right, miss the middle and go to the side that wasn't chosen to go to and finish off in the middle. Curve the edges.

To make a Japanese Stab Bind book:

Don't fold the paper but complete each step up until the stitching. Start in the middle, go back through the middle, go to the left or the right side, round the side, through the middle and to the other side, round the side, finish in the middle, knot it.

The workshop was really fun but very time consuming so I don't think I will be making my own book but it was a really good skill to learn.
