Juno Calypso is a 'London based artist working with photography, film and installation. While she was studying photography at the London College of Communication she began taking pictures of herself disguised as a character named Joyce'. In 2015 she took the project to 'America where she went to a romantic themed hotel where she posed as a travel writer, where she gained access to multiple rooms which she used to stage her series of solitary self portraits'. She looks at 'solitude, desire and femininity through a dark comedy lens' in her images.
The Honeymoon
This project has been 'awarded an international prize by The British Journal of Photography'. She left to go to America after she finished university. She went on her own to a couples only love hotel in rural Pennsylvania. With her pretending to be an 'aspiring travel writer she gained access to different suites in the resort and once she was inside she spent a week dressing up in wigs and wedding lingerie, taking self portraits'. She covered 'herself in green clay, her face in anti-ageing gadgets and draped herself across heart shaped baths which were surrounded by mirrors'. She acted 'out familiar rituals if beauty and seduction but to an absurd degree'.
What to do With A Million Years
She staged photographed 'in a mansion built underneath Las Vegas in the 70's as a shelter from nuclear terror' The mansion is 'currently owned by a mystery group attempting to achieve immortality'.
She speaks about her series The Honeymoon a lot more than any of her other projects so I couldn't find out as much information about this series of images.

I decided to research into Calypso because she's very unusual, I wasn't sure if I liked her work or not because I wasn't too sure what was going on in the images but since researching her I still unsure on her work just because of how unique it is but her work could come in useful as I am going to be staging my images for my project.
