Who am I?

My name is Lily Newman and I'm a Devon event photographer based in the South West of England. I have recently graduated from Plymouth College of Art where my skills range from events to products to photojournalism and documentary.

Where it all began...

When I was about twelve I went to a wedding where I was fascinated by the photographer. I would secretly be watching what she was doing without being a weirdo! I watched what angles she was taking the pictures from, what kinds of images she was taking and the different lenses and cameras she used. Since then I have never let the sights of being a photographers leaves my sights and dreams.

Previous experience

As a photographer constantly seeking experience and new adventures I am always on the look out for local venues and events that may need a photographer to help them. From researching local events I have come across a few events and organisations. 

 

Pup Up Cafe is the most recent event I have taken part in. They're a new business that only started out at the beginning of 2019. Pup Up Cafe is a dog pop up event which travels around the country organising specific dog breed events to help dogs mingle. 

The first event started off in my hometown so I got in touch to ask if they needed a photographer to photograph the event and it started from there.

Robert Shack is a very successful London based wedding photographer who was kind enough to allow me to assist him at a wedding at The Dorchester. The whole experience was amazing and I learnt a lot about how much work is involved in photographing a wedding, it's a very demanding job.

Devon Guild of Craftsman is a very local gallery and craft shop that showcase local artists work. They also have a cafe so I got in touch to see if they needed any new photos for their website or whether they needed any photographs of the new work they had in stock to help advertise them. I have photographed with The Guild a couple of times to help advertise the new work via their Instagram accounts.

Product photography is also a big passion of mine which can be seen in my "Product Photography" section. I have photographed a range of products jewellery and trainers but that's not just where my skills finish, I can also photograph a range of products as I am always willing to put my lens to anything.
