I want to use Nicholas White as research for my new project, Manifesto because he is someone who I have met and his projects have influenced me to create the work I want to create. When Nick came in to talk to a group of us he spoke through most of the projects he has created along with what he went off and did once he finished his degree.
When Nick finished his degree he went into taking photos for a sports company very close to where I live, where I've seen jobs advertised before. He said he did that as a way of earning money which would then fund his personal projects. This is how I've been thinking about my life after uni ever since Nick's talk. I think before the talk I was thinking very unrealistically and just thinking I'll be in a job by this time next year without actually thinking about it properly. I have now thought about it a lot more and realised that I will need to have a commercial job which will earn me money and then do my own personal photography on the side.
I have been thinking about the type of photography I want to create myself and I have always been interested in travelling and taking pictures of what I want to remember from those travels. Nick did a similar thing where he had an interest in a certain thing and pursued it as a sideline career. This is what I hope to do.
