This shoot didn't go as planned as it was pouring with rain so I couldn't stand out in the rain for very long as my camera would have got too wet but I managed to get a couple of images.
Why Dawlish and Teignmouth?
The beach is somewhere most children go when they're younger and Teignmouth and Dawlish are places I went when I was younger a lot. I always used to go when I was a lot younger and at school with my mum fir the day. We would always take a picnic and a bucket and spade and that would occupy us for the whole day. As I got older we would do to Dawlish to Gay's Creamery where we got an ice cream with a chocolate flake and clotted cream and walk around the town enjoying our ice cream. Going to the beach always reminds me of sitting down really early for lunch because we had worn ourselves out in the morning that we were hungry before lunch time, sitting down and eating our sandwiches but could never manage to never get sand in my sandwich.
I want to be able to return to both of these places when the weather gets a little nicer and take a picnic, sit on the beach and shoot my view. When I return to Dawlish I want to be able to buy an ice cream from the ice cream shop and shoot around the town. I was unable to do this on this shoot because of the weather.
Where did I want to shoot?
For this shoot I had only planned to shoot in Teignmouth but because the weather was so bad I had time to travel around to both places. As I said above I did actually want to shoot certain places within the towns but I was unable to because of the weather so I just got what I could. I did try and get some images of the pier because I used to always go there to go on some of the rides and play the arcade games and then get an ice cream at the end.
My contact sheet:
I didn't take as many images as I wanted but the weather held me back so I will re shoot this shoot. I did feel like giving up at one point because the weather was so bad but I decided to carry on anyway because I thought I might have one good photo at least. Because of the weather I ended up not really having a p0lan for the images I wanted to take so in kind of just took photos of what I wanted when I got there, most images were taken out of my car window.
Since getting home and looking at these images I think I have three images that I could use but one is definately the strongest. The one image that I feel is the strongest is an image that I took in the car through my windscreen with loads of rain on it. I remember thinking as I took the image that is was going to be rubbish but it turned out to be the opposite. If I don't get round to do another shoot I feel like this image will definitely feature in my final book.
