Day 1: The Start of a New Chapter

The 1st of September was a very different day for me. After being on a summer break for 10 weeks I suddenly had to get back into a 'normal' school routine again, waking up at 06:00 was not my idea of fun but in order for me to do what I want to do and to be successful I have to.

I arrived at college and was immediately surrounded by people with very unusual coloured hair and people in very fashionable clothing and I started to think whether I would fit in. I didn't have bright coloured hair or very fashionable clothes.

I walked into the canteen and all I could see was a sea of students who looked very organised with their portfolios and big art folders full of ideas and there was me with my college bag and a Schuh bag with my summer project box in.

The first person I met was Cass, who took my name and ticked it off the register. A lady called Jenny then came to collect us and took us up to room 2.12 which was the room we were based in. As soon as I walked in the room was near enough full and everyone got to see who was who and who they would be spending the next two years with.

I sat along the side of the room becasue the classroom was already full! I took notes and when the session was over I went and sat in the canteen on my own to get my bearing around the college. After the break we all looked through our lecteurers work to see what they do when their not teaching. It was very inspirational because it showed me that they have a lot of eperience and their not just a teacher in photography they are actually working/freelance photographers.

After lunch we all met in Studio 11 which is where we will be based for most of our year at the college to show our summer projects. Most people there knew at least one person which made me feel a bit uncomfortable as I didnt want to interrupt into people's conversations. At the end of the session everyone was starting to get to know each other a little bit which made me feel a little bit more confident.

I decorated my box with lillies as it relates to my name Lily. I filled my box with all things that relate to me as well. In my box in included:

- a baby photo

- my last school photo

- a menu from where I work

- my favourite sweets packet

- some of my photos that I have taken in the past year

- train tickets

- postcards

- leaflets

- old netball team photo

I added some more things to my box but to be honest I can't remember what else I put in!
