Widecombe in the Moor shoot 2

Today I went to Widecombe in the Moor to do a second shoot as my first shoot didn't turn out very well. When I went to Widecombe the last time it was really sunny and my images came out very over exposed, because this happened last time I didn't want it to happen again so I thought about why they might have come out differently. I thought that the time of day that I went the last time could have been a factor as to why my images came out really over exposed. The last time I went to Widecombe it was about 3pm which is the last hour when the sun is at its brightest, today however I went at 10am when the sun was just coming out from behind the mist.
I wanted to try to focus on the church at Widecombe as that is the main attraction at Widecombe as there is not a lot else there. When I went today I managed to get inside of the church grounds which I wasn't able to do the last time that I went. I had slightly different equipment with me today which I don't think made any difference to how my images came out today but did make them look of a better quality. I had the normal equipment that I have with me: a Nikon d90 and a tripod but I also had a polarizing filter attached to the camera. My camera setting were slightly different as well, my camera settings this time were on aperture priority which meant that I set my ISO, white balance and f stop to 22 but my camera worked out my shutter speed automatically for me.

This image above is one that I am very happy with. I love the composition of the whole image especially as you can see the faint blue sky with the clouds and I love how vibrant the grass is. I also like how the pale blue sky just seems to be around the church as I think it adds a sense of power to the picture.

This image is one that I am happy with as well, I am happy with this image because it guides my eyes down the path and down to the entrance of the church. When I hit the entrance of the church my eyes stop and then think about another route to take through the picture it then takes me in the hills of the moors and beyond. I love how this image does this as it is almost as if it is telling a story to the journey into the church and then what happens beyond the church. One thing that I think could be improved on this image is the straightness of the image but I do quite like the image as it is does make your eyes move down the image.

I think this image is probably my favourite image from my shoot as I love all of the colours in the image. The blue sky really stands out along with the tiny red bush in the left hand corner. I love how sharp the image is as the bricks on the building really stands out and makes me realise how old the building is. I have had to straighten this image as it was slightly wonky so that I could get the whole of the church into the image but I think it looks a lot better now to how it did before.
