Plymouth Landscapes: Test shoot

This afternoon I went to Plymouth Hoe to do a test shoot on landscapes similar to what I want to take on the moors. I went there in the hope of getting some good landscape images with a good, straight horizon, some panoramic images and to try and use the rule of thirds. I created a shoot plan to give me some structure of what I was aiming for while I was on my shoot.

I didn't end up shooting everything that I aimed to shoot but I did stick to most of my shoot plan. I used a Nikon d90 for my equipment, which I said I would use in my shoot plan, however I didn't end up using a tripod for some panoramic images as I couldn't find a good place with flat enough ground to be able to take my panoramics. I stuck to the location that I said on my shoot plan because I had already planned to go there. My timing was nearer one hour than two because even though we put two hours on the car one hour was enough time as the sky was getting darker an darker. I also didn't use any models and didn't need any assistance. I also haven't needed to do that much post production as my white balance and ISO were set correctly.

These are a few of my images that I took at Plymouth Hoe. All of these have been edited, some more than others. With some of the images I didn't like the whole of the picture or there was a head of a person stood in the way so I cropped the image to where I wanted to and then I used the clone tool to hide the areas I didn't want in the image.

One thing that this shoot as taught me, is to, think about different shooting angles in order to get some really eye capturing images that really bring the eye into focus on the main subject of the image. I have also learnt to try and stick to my shoot plan as much as possible as it will help you to create some good images that you have already planned so that you have an idea of what you want to shoot before you actually shoot the images.
