I stuck to my word and I went home last night and made a new Instagtram account especially for 'My Visual Diary' and for my other images that I take that I don't want to be on my personal Instagram account. My new username is lily_newman_photography and so far only have two images on there but it is only a start. I aim to post at least one picture everyday but sometimes when I am at work for most of the day it will be hard to take a photo of anything and sometimes might turn out to be a similar image to one I have already posted. If I don't end up posting one image a day I will make up for it the following day by uploading at least two images that day.
Today, however we had a lighting induction in the morning and two different lectures this afternoon. The lighting induction was good as we got to learn the basics of how lighting works and what you have to do in order to get the right image, we also learnt what white balance to use and hat to put our lighting settings on. We learnt that you have to wear special gloves for the Arri lights as they get very hot and your hand can melt onto the light which would be very painful. With the Arri lights you can use the shutters to adjust the amount of light that comes out of the bulb.
The other light that we tried out was the LED light, this gave off more of a white tone into our pictures but was a lot easier to use as you turn it on from the main electrical source and then from a switch of the light, it also doesn't get hot so can hold it and move it around without worrying about your hands melting to the light.
For both of the lights you have to make sure you tighten the light stand tight enough but should only be finger tight because as the Arri light gets hot it will tighten and make the stand hotter and harder to undo when the lights have cooled down. The lights should be okay to pack away after about 15 minutes.
One of the images I got from the lighting induction was taken on my phone because i didn't get the opportunity to use a d90 but my phone was just as good .

This is the image I got from the LED light induction, one thing that I did notice was that there were some lines next to the object that I was photographing which I'm not sure whether can be changed by adjusting the shutters.
In the afternoon one of our lectures was about blogging where we looked at 4 different blogging websites:
1. wix
2. blogger
3. tumblr
4. wordpress
Before I chose to use Wix to create my blog I looked at using wordpress but I didn't understand it as it wasn't as straight forward as Wix. I had also seen tumblr before and to me looks like it's more like Instagram than a blogging website so I thought that it wasn't suitable for what I needed as I knew I would have my new Instagram account alongside my blog so wasn't suitale for what I needed. Blogger was another webiste that I tried to look at but I was unable to look through it because you had to make an account in order to look around the site which I didn't want to do.
So I decided to go with Wix as it looked fairly straight forward and easy to use. However, at first I made a wordpress account as I heard that it was good and straightforward but after I had tried it out I discovered it wasn't the best website to use. When I made my Wix account I just started on my design at first as I wanted to get used to how it worked and how to add pictures etc.
Our other afternoon lecture was about finding resources without the use of the internet just the use of books and the library reference numbers. We got set the task of going round the library and finding different books in different places so that we got our bearings around the library. Once we had done this we got given a task to find one or two books that we liked the look of and why. I found two versions of the same book the Photography Yearbook 1994 and Photography Yearbook 1989. I chose these books because their was a 5 year gap between thr photos in each book so I wanted to see how photography has changed throughout the years. I found that the photos had changed quite a lot in terms of image quality and the fashion had changed slightly but apart from that it didn't looked like anything else had changed dramatically.

One thing that I could now is
