This afternoon we had a lecture on RAW files as only some of us have worked with RAW before. I have worked in RAW before but I didn't really know what it meant so the lecture was very beneficial to me. In the lecture I learnt all about RAW files.
1. RAW files are better for editing
2. You get a higher image quality
3. When you download the files off the SD card and onto the computer if you have used a Nikon camera NEF files will appear but if you have used a Canon, CR2 files will appear.
4. When you edit a RAW file you can't ruin the quality
5. If the picture is too dark it means its under exposed
6. If the picture is too light it means its over exposed
7. Try to avoid using contrast when editing
8. For lens corrections go to chromatic aberration
9. To change saturation press the HSL/Greyscale button
10. To print the image save as a TIFF.
11. To upload the picture to websites wtc save the image as a JPEG.
12. Once the file has been saved as either a TIFF. or a JPEG. a file titles xmp also saves, do not delete this file as this saves the whole editing process. If this is deleted then all the editing on the picture will be deleted, only delete it once your happy with the edt and have it saved somewhere as it will go back to default settings.
