I looked at both photographers Martin Parr and Lewis Hine to see the difference between them and how the style of photograohy has changed over time. Lewis Hine was a photographer from 1874-1940 that was interested in child labour to document what it was like in his time in America and Martin Parr is a modern photographer that is interested in what people think about England and the streets of England. I decided to compare Martin Parr and Lewis Hine because Martin Parr shows whats happening on the streets of England now and Lewis Hine showed what it was like for the children in his time.

In this image Martin Parr focused putting together a chronicle daily life of people in a town called Evian in France. This is different to Martin's normal style because he's not focusing on lives in England but is still showing off his style. I like this picture because even thugh it's just showing a family walk to the beach it's shoing his aim of what he focuses on.

In this picture Lewis Hine is showing a portrait of a girl working in a cotton mill. She was only 51 inches high and had been working in the mill for one year. Sometimes she worked at night and when she was asked how old she was she said she didn't remember. She then said to Hine confidentially that she wasn't old enough to work but does he same as everyone else. I like this photo because it's very powerful but it also makes me sympathise with the girl and makes me realise the difference between now and then.
I think that I have more of a stronger connection with Lewis Hine as his pictures are very hard hitting and Martin Parr's are of people having fun whereas Hine's aren't. I sympathise more with Hine even though I now live in the modern day that Martin Parr does.
