The Others

This morning I got given my new 5 week assignment called 'The Others'. This is a project that is based on different cultures and needs to relate to the Equality Act 2010. I need think about how I percieve people and will need to explore issues of identity, culture, disability and difference.

When I got this assignment I wasn't sure what I was going to do because my last project was based on cultures within my family and how it has changed so I don't want this project to be similar.

I have had an idea of using street photography to show different cultures outside on the streets and asking people to expalin something about them or to say something that they are thinking about etc. I got this idea from the blog Human of New York. I love the idea that Brandon (the photographer and owner of the Human of New York blog) has done because he has portrayed real people with a caption that represents them and their life.

I have been thinking of ideas by mindmapping them. I have come up with ideas of shooting pictures of different heritage for example my mum's side and my dad's side of the family. I think this idea could be interesting because it would be something that would link to me and would show the 'other' people in my family in the aspect of what they look like facially etc.

Linking to the idea of genration and heritage I have also been thinking about doing some pictures of my families hands linked together to show the family bond between us. To do this I would get the different generations of my family and link their hands together to show the bond and to also show the different generations through the hands.

In this project I want to try and do 2D and 3D. Obviously I know how I'm going to do my 2D assignment but I'm still not sure how to do a 3D element to my assignment. I was thinking of trying to do soemthing about culture and ethics but I'm not too sure whether to do something based on culture because my final piece for my last assignment was based on culture.
