Physical Impairment

This morning we got given the opportunity to experience what it would be like to have a physical impairment. We had the choice if we wanted to, to try being in a wheelchair, to use visually impaired googles or to use hearing impairment headphones. I didn't want to try to use any of them because I've done a similar activity before so know what it's like.

'Think England'

This morning we watched a documentry by Martin Parr 'Think England'. The documentry was about what English people thought about being English and about England in general in 1999. Most of the people said that they loved England and that they had never been abroad and wouldn't want too because they love England so much. Some people didn't associate themselves as English instead they associated themselves as British. Some people were very opinionated on having immigrants in England but were very passionate about us succeeding in two World Wars and winning one World Cup. Martin Parr then asked someone that was originally born in the West Indies what she thought about England and she said that she loves England and prefers living in England much more than living in the West Indies. To show age contrast in the documentry Parr interviewed some young adults about what they thought of where they lived and they said that they didn't like where they lived because there wasn't a McDonalds close by. The younger adults seemed to be more opinionated on England and the people who live in England whereas the older people were the ones that tended to say that they would never go abroad which suggests that they have and still will live quite a sheltered life.

Shoot plan

At the moment I don't feel that I can plan a shoot because I want to go into town and maybe up to the Hoe and see what I end up with instead of focusing on one idea as I'm a bit confused as to what to do exactly. I want to be able to go out and to just see what photos I come out with as I don't have one topic I want to focus on I want this to be more of an open shoot to see what I come out with. I have been looking at images on google of British street photography and there is so much variety that I just want to see what I find. I don't feel that I can go out onto the street and ask people to take pictures of them because of the way they look because I feel that some people could get offended.
