The Future: Client Briefing

This morning we had a client briefing from two different clients who want us to produce something which links to the company they work for and what they passionately believe in. The first brief was from a lady called Chloe who works for Regen SW. Regen SW strongly believe that sustainable energy is the heart of a successful economy and will help to thrive local communities. The four main sectors they focus on are:

- offshore renewables

- the built environment, microgenration and energy efficiency in the south west

- renewable heat

- onshore electricity generation

Chloe spoke to us about what she wanted us to create for her company. Regen SW would like us to consider their company to produce some advertisement for them. They would like us to work alone or collaboratively to create a 2D piece of artwork or text that explores an aspect of sustainable energy. If I decide to go for this brief it would mean that my artwork could potentially be:

- profiled on the website power-culture.com

- displayed at an Art and Energy symposium in October and the South West Green Energy Awards in Bath in November

- considered by The Institution for Civil Engineers for display on bus stops across the South West.

There was also one other thing that Chloe mentioned. She said that if our idea won the competition won then we would get it advertised and we would also win £250!

I considered this brief but I'm not sure that I want to take part in it even though the £250 is very tempting.

Our other client briefing from Coral who works for the Devon Wildlife Trust. She was unable to come and talk to us so she made us a video talking us through what she wanted us to consider. She feels passionately about marine life and how we are slowing killing them and making them extinct. She gave us 5 topics that we could possibly focus on.

1. Terrestrial Pollution

2. Plastic Pollution

3. Climate Change

4. Over fishing

5. Protection of the Sea

As soon as I heard this brief I had some visions of where I could go to shoot some pictures so I was more excited for this brief than the previous brief.

Once I had listened to both of the clients briefs I was a bit confused as too what they both wanted me to produce so I read through the briefs again to try and make sense of them by breaking them down. After trying to break down the brief from Chloe I still didn't really understand it as when she was giving us the brief she was on about superheros so I'm not sure how I could encorporate that into a photo. Also I don't really know much about sustainable energy which isn't really a problem as I could research into sustainable energy but I just have a slight sense of worry about this brief. However, with the brief from Coral from the Devon Wildlife Trust I had a feeling of where I could shoot straight away. I still don't have a solid idea on what I want to produce for Coral but I think this is a much better idea for me.
