My thoughts on my first iMovie!

To be able to complete this assignment I had to complete my last unit that is included in the assignment. I have had to show that I can create artwork that is 2D, 3D and 4D. For my 4D artwork I have created a show reel made using iMovie to showcase all of the images that I took when I went to Whitsands Bay. For this part of the assignment I managed to create a 4D iMovie using the images I took on Whitsands Bay. Trying to create a piece of artwork that is 4D was quite challenging for me as I have never created anything 4D before.

Throughout my show reel I was trying to portray that even though there is so much rubbish that is washed up on the beach due to human waste, the beach can still look so nice in areas where there is no rubbish, the beach can almost look so untouched and peaceful. I was trying to show this through my show reel by using all the images that I liked from my Whitsands shoot which show the natural beauty of the beach with a couple of images showing rubbish but how they can be made into a sculpture to help promote how much waste is actually being washed up on the beach. I used two soundtracks in the background of my show reel one called Time Lapse and Sail Boat. I used Time Lapse, as I liked the nice relaxing sound it gave off in the background and I used Sail Boat as it made my movie have a sound that sounded like I was actually at the beach.

To construct my show reel I collected all the images that I wanted to use and put them into iMovie ready to put them into the order that I wanted them to be shown in. Once I had sorted my pictures into the order that I wanted I changed the time scale that every picture was shown for, I chose 2.5 seconds per image that then meant that my movie was 30 seconds long.

I think that my show reel went really well as I didn’t really know what to expect at first as I had never done anything like it before. The only problem that I came up with was when I wanted to publish onto my blog I found out that I had to publish my video onto Youtube in order for me to publish it on my blog which I didn’t really want to do because I didn’t think that many people would be interested in looking at my video but I had too so that’s what I did. If I was to edit or recreate another show reel I would add some text and maybe add some more pictures that are from the whole of the project not just from my shoot on Whitsands Bay. I am happy with how my show reel turned out because I believe it does show off my purpose.
