Still Life Studio Shoot

This morning we did a still life studio shoot using all the rubbish we collected off of the beach yesterday. We used a macro lens to show the full detail of the images. The shoot was quite different to a studio shoot that we have done before because there was quite a few more technical elements to the shoot this time. We used a snoot, honeycomb, tripod, light meter and a macro lens. We had a pink background that was a piece of sugar paper which we put in the position of a cove background.

We had our little set up on a wall next to the actual cove as we didn't want to use the cove as we were all in little groups and wanted to have little set ups instead of all sharing the big cove. We had our little cove space set up like the lighting diagram above. We had our background and then the object that we were photographing. Our light source was coming from the left hand side leaving a shadow on the right hand side. Attached to our light source we had the honeycomb. In the lighting diagram I have the snoot shown but we were going to use the snoot but it wasn't fitting onto our light so we used the honeycomb instead which there isn't a honeycomb on the lighting diagram website.

Above are pictures of our little set up behind the scenes. Our set was very small but as you can see by using the macro lens and a tripod we don't need to have a big set as the macro lens will zoom into a lot of detail.

This is a picture that I took in the studio shoot off a beer bottle that was found on the beach clean on Mount Edgecumbe yesterday using the macro lens. I enjoy using a macro lens because it really shows off all the details that you may not even be able to see with the naked eye. From looking at this image you can see the small details of finger prints, little chips/dents in the bottle from being on the beach and being in the sea and scratches on the bottle also from being in the sea. I didn't really know what colour background to use but I think the pink is quite effective as it contrasts with the green bottle.
