Originally I had decided to photograph Badger's Holt for my final location for my Final Major Projetc but unfortunately I have been unable to find enough information about Badger's Holt so I have changed my location to Widecombe-in the -Moor which is nearby.

Widecombe-in the-Moor

Widecombe-in the-Moor is a village and large civil prish on DNP in Devon. The name Widecombe-in the-Moor is thought to have been invented from the word 'Withy-combe' which means Willow Valley. Tourism is a major part of the income of the village. In the village there are several gift shops, two cafe's and two pubs (one of which I have been too). Widecombe is also very well known for the Widecombe Fair which is held annually and celebrated by a folksong 'Old Uncle Tom Cobley and All'.

One of the most destinctive and most recognisable places in Widecombe is the church. The church is called Church of Saint Pancras but is also known as the Cathedral of the Moor. The church was badly damaged in the Great Thunderstorm of 1638 - it was apparently struck by ball lighting during when an afternoon service was taking place with approximately 300 people inside the church. Four people were killed and about 60 people were injured. According to some people the thunderstorm happened due to Widecombe being visited by the Devil. This meant that for centuries people had to walk miles in order to go to church.
